The Fire Department of Pisa is part of the National Fire Corps (Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco – CNVVF) and it has the duty to ensure rescue, to carry out fire prevention/fighting services and to protect personal safety and integrity of goods. It provides technical rescue and assistance which requires highly specialized equipment and resources (USAR, CBRN, Spelean alpine Rescue, helicopters rescue…).
According to the national law, the National Fire Corps is the key part of the civil protection system. The USAR module is registered in CECIS and has been part of many EU-UCPM exercises and of EU-funded projects.
Project Leader, he is the Chief of the Fire Department of Pisa and Civil Engineer. From 1995, he is employee at the Italian National Fire Fighters Corp. He has a MA in “Quality of Public Administration” from the the University of Roma III, Faculty of Economics.
Partner coordinator, he is Liutenant Colonel, Technical Official Italian National Fire and Rescue Service, MA in Civil Engineering, specializzation in Hydraulic Engineering. He was Deputy Commander in Advanced Operative Command in Norcia during the 2016 earthquake in Center Italy Regions. He attended CMI course in Innsbruck in 2017.
Member of Board of Expert in EASeR; he is Executive Fire Chief in the Italian Fire and Rescue service and works at central level in the Directorate for Emergency in Rome. He is in charge of the coordination of many specializations in the fire service such as CBRN, USAR, Rope Rescuers, K9. He is also in charge of many international activities including exercises and real emergencies. He has been dealing with the inclusion of the Italian Fire and Rescue Service in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism for a couple of years so far, and has achieved quite a broad experience concerning the international environment. He is a nuclear engineer and expert in NBCR.
SOP senior expert and Exercise Control Coordinator, he works for the National Fire Corp. since 1983 he works in the Fire Dep.of Pisa and he is USAR Tuscany Regional Operational Responsible. Professional and USAR trainer, part of CBRN team, he is also an Evaluator for USAR EU voluntary Pool Certification. He has been involved in earthquakes in Italy, Haiti, and Ecuador as well as the tsunami in Sri Lanka. He has successfully followed the MBC and CMI courses within EU Civil Protection Mechanism Training Programme and INSARAG USAR Coordination Course. He has been as an expert, involved in several USAR EU Exchange of Experts and EU funded projects (PIS.A.R.T.E., CBRN Integrated Response, NIFTi and TRADR “Robot in USAR and CBRN environment).
SOP senior expert and Exercise Control member, works for The National Fire Corp since 1985 in Pisa Fire Dept. He is the Regional and Provincial USAR Officer and USAR trainer. He has participated in several training exercise full/small scale, table-top, congresses, international and national USAR activity. He has successfully followed the MBC and CMI courses within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism Training Programme and USAR Coordination Course by INSARAG. He has experience in real emergencies in Italy and abroad. He was involved in several European projects and several field exercises.
SOP expert in information technology. He is currently enrolled at University of Florence at the Faculty of Architecture and participated at PIS.A.R.T.E. project. He is expert in CAD, 3D modelling, video-making. Qualified in Rescue rope operations, CBRN and member of USAR Tuscany Team. From 2008 to 2013 works as K9 Fire Fighter Unit. His main interest is focused on USAR operations, he undertook many experiences during the Italian earthquakes and disasters among which Abruzzo 2009, Amatrice 2016, Rigopiano 2017.
SOP expert and Exercise Control member, he works for The National Fire Corps since April 1990. He is USAR Team Crew Leader. He has experience in USAR operations in real emergencies (i.e. earthquakes in Italy, Nepal) and exercises. He is working in INSARAG External Classification (IEC) process in order to organize classification exercise of Italian Firefighters Heavy USAR Team.
Senior Mapping expert and Standard Operating Procedure expert, he works for The National Fire Corps since October 1994. From December 2015, he works for the Central Directorate for Emergency and the Technical Relief – Air Rescue Coordination Office and is in charge of the Flying Operations. He has been employed in some Aerial Fire Fighting operations, in European Countries, under the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and many other emergency situations at national level (earthquakes, stabilization of buildings, floods, fires in general).
Expert in data management and mapping, exercise control member, he is USAR team member specialized in topography applied in rescue operations with experience on earthquakes in Italy (from 1997 onwards).
Junior IT manager, exercise control member, he works for The National Fire Corps since July 2004. He is USAR Team Rescuer. He has experience in USAR operations in real emergencies (i.e. earthquakes in Italy, Nepal) and exercises. He is working in INSARAG External Classification (IEC) process in order to organize classification exercise of Italian Firefighters Heavy USAR Team.
SOP expert in Information Technology, he works for the National Fire Corps since December 2010. He is an aquatic rescuer and member of the U.S.A.R. Tuscany Team with experience on the last earthquakes, in Amatrice (2016), Norcia (2017), and in final phase of the Rigopiano’s avalanche rescue operations (2017). He operates in flood scenarios.
Supervisor of the set-up of the Small Scale Exercise site, he is USAR and BLSD Trainer and responsible of logistics of USAR Team, expert of T.A.S. Course (Topography Applied Rescue), Water, rope and river rescuer. He participated to several UCPM exercises TEREX, ORION 2010, EU Ricther 2011 and projects TRADR Project (Robot Unit in USAR with e BCRN environment), PIS.A.R.T.E., CBRN Integrated Response etc.
